Where it all began
Acknowledgement of Country
Fern & Hoogah acknowledges the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first inhabitants of the nation, and the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work. We pay our respects to ancestors and Elders, past and present. Fern & Hoogah honours the Traditional Owner's unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas and their rich contribution to society.
Fern & Hoogah is owned and run by me, Bec Rodriguez. It was originally my much loved side project, that I ran out of the front room of my house; after my full time job, and on weekends. Since beginning in November 2018, it has expanded to it's very own store front location.
The rooms of my house are full of plants and they truely make it feel like a home. I wanted to be able to share the joy and comfort they bring me with others and so, Fern & Hoogah was born.
The 'hoogah' in the name is the phonetic spelling of 'Hygge', a Danish ritual I fell in love with. It is the idea of enjoying life's simple pleasures; the feeling of warmth you get when enjoying all the little things life has to offer. To me, that includes sitting back with a cup of tea and looking around at the indoor jungle I call my living room, or watering one of my plants and spying a tiny new leaf unfurling.
When expanding into our new location I also wanted to expand the business, by now offering workshops. Fern & Hoogah has always been about sharing the things that make me the happiest with people, so what better way than to offer classes for other things that I love.
